TTeam & TTouch philosophy:
To respect each animal as an individual.
To honor the role of animals as our teachers.
To bring awareness to the importance of animals in our lives.
To recognize the individual learning process of every human and animal.
To encourage harmony, cooperation and trust between humans and animals as well as amongst humans.
That most resistance comes from tension, discomfort or pain in the horses body or lack of balance (physical, mental and emotional).
Increases attention, obedience, self-control, self-confidence, coordination, balance, and focus
Enables greater range of motion (especially useful in older equines)
Corrects behavioral problems
Reduces tension; fear; and pain (resulting from illness and/or competitive stress)
Helps Cope with episodes of stress, injury and colic
Improves performance and condition
Aids horses in understanding of training sessions
Corrects specific riding tendencies (dropping inside shoulder, stumbling, short striding, etc.)

The body wrap.
I had a fun (but very wet) day today at a TTEAM one day clinic. We
covered the basic ttouches, leading and some ground exercises. As ever,
it was really nice to meet other horse folks with the same ethos of
care........and there were some really nice folks there today. I took two
Iceys with me so that people could practice without worrying about
'problem' horses....or rather, horses with problems. Of course they
were a real hit! Olsen pretended to freak out when the wand was used in
Dingo a little too enthusiastically........hehe......of course his
freaking out is rather less dangerous than some........he just moved off
rather quickly but stopped again just as abruptly when he realised his
leader was not moving. Reisn really looked after her leaders.........she
took them under her 'wing' and gently cooperated with great concentration
and interest in their progress. She was particularly patient while folks
learned how they *should* be standing, leading, holding the chain or wand,
etc.
We finished the day with a bit of Tolt riding.........everyone had to try
it out. I had to wrest my two hairies away from the place in the end as
they were so very popular with everyone. Only the practioner had seen
them before - and that was at Robyn's place in Canada..........so she was
really tickled pink to see some in Britain.
Anyway, apart from that I learned a new ttouch...........the octopus.
This is an interesting sort of figure of eight with both hands up and down
and around the legs........with particular emphasis on ending up in the
feet. It is a sort of grounding exercise. Done slowly it can bring
awareness and calming - stops jiggling about...........done more quickly
it can encourage more elevation. Hmmm, maybe it would be nice for older
horses whose circulation is particularly poor.
And........I saw the famous 'Let's Ride' book........what wonderful
photos! I can see why so many of you like it. I ordered a copy!!
